Gordes and Paris Culinary Trip 2023

Beautiful Gordes.

The picturesque hill town of Gordes.

The little sink area in the powder room.

The gang spent a lot of time around this clean and sparkling pool,

discussing food, animals, family, and all important things in their lives.

Looking outside from the lovely sunroom in the attached conservatory.

Market day was tres fun! I dropped quite a few euros.

We went to a winery and had so much fun. Then we had dinner at another winery close by. My GPS took us right THROUGH the fields! It was so funny.

Gordes was great. From there, we went on to Ilse Sur la Sorgue, Aix en Provence, and Avignon. One of the guests had done a semester in Avignon and lived with a family there. They had a cocktail party for her with friends she had met, so we all went. The family had recently remodeled their kitchen, and they were proud to show it to us! You may or may not know this about most French people, but they hate drafts. They don’t love air conditioning like we do. It was an early fall night, but warm. As the room heated up with the bodies of about 20 jovial French people and a few happy Americans, I began to feel warm. Then hot. Then absolutely steaming. Not a window was cracked; not a hint of a breeze flowed. Not a molecule of air conditioning was turned on. Sweat began to trickle down my back. Everyone was so jovial, but all I could think was that I was roasting alive. Like I was on a spit, turning over a roaring fire. Finally, around 10pm, I couldn't stand it anymore and said, well, we have a long drive back and we got the heck out of La Dodge. Another tidbit about the French, a goodbye can take loads of time, so more heat stroke was involved.

At a Michelin Star restaurant that was super good. They were friendly and welcoming. I even ate oyster. Oui.

Hiking. Here is Wesleigh!

The famous still active abbey. Very interesting and a major lavender grower.

Intriguing red dirt.

This sign says I am sorry, Brother Dog, but you cannot visit the abbey. Darling...

A private chef made us dinner one night. He was very grouchy while texting, but super sweet when he was there. Another lesson to me that texting doesn’t convey emotions.

The beautiful kitchen in the Gordes house.

Paris!!! All the girls love Rick.

Jean d’Arc.

Cool mirrored structure put up on the Rue St. Honore close to my old apartment.

It was fashion week and loads of people took their photos with this car outside of our hotel.

Napoleon’s tomb. Did you know I am quite a Napoleon lover??

The bad boy himself is right in here forever.

I hope you enjoyed this small pictorial of the 2003 fall Gordes/Paris trip I led last year. And I hope you will come on one in the future!
